Allegory of the cave sonnet

He sees what is presented before him,
Is this reality or an appearance that remains grim.
Shackled physically and shackled mentally.
The cave limits the thoughts and mind.

Freedom from the cave,
brings forth independent thinkers.
Who question and ponder
and let their minds wonder.

The man who sought freedom,
does not return,
For he has gained knowledge or reality,
while the prisoner does not learn.

Beyond the surface and the bare minimum,
see with your intellect and not your senses.

  1. I really like your sonnet, Elisia! The prose is Shakespearean, but you used your own rhyme scheme! Good job! :D

  2. Your blog has great descriptive words and allusions to be deciphered. Your own rhyme scheme is apparent, but the Shakespearean base is there. Very nice.

I like the background of your blog, and my question is how do you plan on reading these lit circle books?

  5. The quote you have and the other text on your blog is so cute, I love the font. How is your group dividing the work for the literature circles?

  6. Great job on your sonnet! I loved the ending (: Your blog is quite lovely. It's so you! I'm going to study with flashcards. I haven't decided whether to go by each list or mix all of the flashcards together. How are you planning on preparing for the final? Any suggestions?
